Lawlessness will not tolerated: Inu

DHAKA, Sep 06, 2018 (BSS)-Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, today said that Khaleda Zia’s refusal to attend the court would tantamount to challenging the rule of law.

“This is a dangerous trend and that’s what they had been doing in and out of power,” he explained.

“But if we’re to keep the integrity of the state, we’ve no choice but to take it up seriously,” he said.

‘We can’t allow such lawlessness. It is dangerous for the country, “Inu said.

“A court can sit wherever it deems convenient. The court trying Khaleda is an open court. She can have her say. Her defense lawyers can plead, freely. Journalists and other observers have access to the proceedings. It is not an on-camera trial. So where is the problem?” he asked rhetorically.

The minister was talking to a delegation of artists and technicians from Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar at his office.

He called upon the artists and technicians to play their role as responsible media persons who had great power over the mind of the nation.
