Japanese Prof meets DU VC


DHAKA, Nov 20, 2017 (BSS) – Prof Ishikawa Hirohiko of Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kioto University, Japan paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman at his office of the university today.

Dean of DU Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, Geography and Environment Department Prof AQM Mahbub and Fatiman Akter were present, among others on this occasion, said a DU release here.

During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest specially the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes in the fields of Geography and Environment, Disaster Science and Management, Geology, Meteorology and Oceanography between the DU and Kioto University, Japan.

They agreed to work together to prevent disaster in Bangladesh, the release added.

VC Akhtaruzzanam thanked Japanese guest for his visit to and keen interest in academic and research programmes with DU.
