Bangladesh becomes ‘role model’ of development; Tofail

DHAKA, Sept 03, 2018 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very much business-friendly as Bangladesh has become a ‘role model’ of development in the global flora under her able leadership.

“Our current Prime Minister is very much business-friendly and she is friendly to the workers and the businessmen,” he said.

The Commerce Minister said this at a function marking the distribution of Commercially Important Persons (CIP) cards to 136 businesspeople for their extraordinary performances in respective fields in 2015 at a city hotel.

Commerce Secretary Shubhashish Bose, FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, EPB vice chairman Bijoy Bhattacharjee, FBCCI Director Hasina Newaj and Incepta Pharmaceuticals Managing Director Abdul Muktadir, spoke, among others on the occasion.

Tofail Ahmed said that the people of the country would have to choose Awami League again for further improving the economy of the country.

Out of the 136 businesspeople, 94 received the status for outstanding performances in exports of different types of products while 42 got the status under the ex-officio category of different business chambers and trade bodies.

Among various privileges, the CIPs get special passes to enter the secretariat, use special stickers on their cars, and receive invitations to attend some public functions.

They also get priority in seat reservations in airlines, railways, roads and public transports in the waterways, and get letters of introduction from the foreign ministry for travelling abroad. They and their dependants will also get cabins in hospitals on a priority basis.
