Janmashtami celebrated in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 2, 2018 (BSS) – The Sanaton community here today celebrated the “Janmashtami”, birthday of Lord Sri Krishna, with huge enthusiasm amid due religious fervour, solemnity and festivity.

The district and city units of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad (BPUP) with assistance of district administration and Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs chalked out programmes to celebrate the auspicious occasion.

The programmes included bringing out of a huge ‘Mangal Shobhayatra’ on the city streets followed by a discussion held on the ‘Sahittya Mancha’ at the Public Library ground in the city.

Besides, Puja, fasting and recitation from the holy `Sreematbhagabat Geeta’, ‘Krishna Bandana’, ‘Archona’ and prayers were offered at temples and houses seeking divine blessings for continuous peace, welfare and prosperity of the nation and the humankind.

Led by leaders of the district and city units of BPUP, tens of thousands of the Sanaton Community people attired in traditional dresses and carrying idol of Lord Krishna, colourful banners and festoons participated in the ‘Mangal Shovajatra’ this afternoon.

Deputy Inspector General of Bangladesh Police for Rangpur Range Devas Bhattacharya attended the discussion as the chief guest with Acting President of district unit of BPUP Ajoy Prasad Babon in the chair.

Police Super Mizanur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rabiul Islam, Additional Police Super Abu Maruf Hossain, Additional Police Super (Circle A) Saifur Rahman Saif, General Secretary of city Awami League Tushar Kanti Mandal, addressed as special guests.

General Secretary of district unit of BPUP Dhiman Bhattacharya, President of its city unit Subrata Sarker, Vice-president Laksmin Chandra and General Secretary Taposh Ghosh, among others, spoke.

The speakers said the great religious leaders and personalities on earth have preached and taught the messages of peace, tolerance and serving the humanity to understand kindness and fell mercy of the Creator of the universe.

They said the ideals of Lord Krishna would continue to inspire his disciples for ever to be more dedicated for the cause of the nation, country, its people and humanity to establish truth, peace, love and brotherhood.

The chief guest said the people of all faiths are living peacefully on this land in brotherhood, maintaining communal harmony and working together to build a secular and developed Bangladesh for all citizens.
