Speakers for ensuring welfare of ethnic, dalit people

RAJSHAHI, Sept 1, 2018 (BSS) – Speakers at a discussion today stressed the
need for ensuring social justice for ethnic and dalit people with developing
of their living and livelihood conditions.

“The ethnic and dalit people are deprived of land rights, food,
healthcare, education and cultural facilities in different times. But the
present government is working relentlessly for wellbeing of this
underprivileged community people,” they said.

The observation came at the discussion titled “Right of Ethnic Minority
and Dalit Communities in Light of Constitutional Obligation” at DASCOH
training centre in Rajshahi city.

Centre for Social Activism (CSA) and HEKS/EPER jointly organized the
function in association with DASCOH.

Advocate Sultana Kamal, President of CSA and former Adviser of a caretaker
government, addressed it as focal person.

Former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University Professor Chowdhury
Sarwar Jahan, DASCOH Chief Executive Officer Akramul Haque, Country Director
of HEKS/EPER Anik Asad and its Programme Coordinator Mozahidul Islam and
Project Coordinator Israt Jahan Biju also spoke.

Sultana Kamal stressed the need for protecting the rights of the ethnic
minority people.

She also laid stress on establishing social justice for the plain land
ethnic communities through removing all sorts of disparity, urging the
government to ensure human rights for all underprivileged people.
