No substitute to filters to keep media free: Inu

DHAKA, Aug 30, 2018(BSS)-Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, said today “to keep the media free of trash of yellow journalism, lie, provocation, vulgarity, chitchat and truncated information there was no choice to having an efficient sift.”

The minister was talking at a gathering at Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) where, among others, Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, president of the National Press Club, also spoke.

Drawing parallels in time, the minister said “those who had opposed the Liberation War also greatly gained from the killing of Bangabandhu. They and their patrons today cause supreme defiance to harmony and progress. “That’s why they can’t be spared,” he added.

Inu said that under the capable leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the task of sanitization the effluence had begun and the 2018 election was the best opportunity to give them the final parting kick.

“Democracy and media always go hand-in-hand and it was up to media persons to ensure their precision,” he added.
