4-tier security measures centering Eid in Ctg-CMP Commissioner

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 21, 2018 (BSS)- Mahabubur Rahman, Commissioner of Chatogram
Metropolitan Police (CMP) said a four-tier security measures has been taken
in the Port city and its adjacent areas centering the Eid-ul-Azha.

The security measures were taken a day before Eid, which will remain
effective until the city returns to its normalcy after the festival, he
added.

“We have taken all possible measures to ensure security for peaceful
celebration of the Eid,” Mahabubur Rahman said after visiting preparations of
Jamiutal Falah Maidan, the main Eidgah of port city.

The law enforcers have planned special security measures at the Eidgahs
for a jubilant Eid celebration. RAB, police and different intelligence
agencies, both in uniform and plain clothes are active at different strategic
points in the city including bus terminals, railway station, river-ports,
launch and ferry ghats, to prevent any troublesome situation before and after
Eid, the CMP commissioner said.

“They are also monitoring buses, launches, trains, auto-rickshaws, cars,
microbuses and other vehicles at all the strategic intersections in the city
and its adjoining districts to prevent crimes,” Mahbub added.

Besides, CMP has set up nearly 120 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
cameras at different strategic points to monitor the security.

The CMP Commissioner said all the police stations under CMP have been given
instruction to ensure extra security measures at all the celebration points
including the Eid congregations.

Besides deployment of additional three thousand forces, detective vigilance
has been intensified at all the market points and shopping malls, he said.

Chittagong district police has taken extra security measures in 15
upazila head quarters from the previous day of Eid and that will continue for
the following three days. RAB-7 has taken all-out security measures to
prevent any unpleasant circumstances during the festival.

Several mobile teams are patrolling the city and vulnerable areas to
maintain law and order. Law enforcers particularly RAB are monitoring on the
highways for safe and sound journey of homebound people, the source added.
