Animal waste to be removed in 48 hours in Rangpur city: RCC Mayor

RANGPUR, Aug 19, 2018 (BSS) – Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC)
Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa has said adequate steps have been taken to remove
the waste of sacrificial animals within 48 hours during Eid-ul-Azha aiming to
keep the city clean and check pollution.

“To make the city free from animal wastes within a maximum period of 48
hours, we will engage 25 vehicles to carry wastes and 1,000 cleaners and
workers and anybody can communicate at hotline number 01727898190 to get
assistance,” he said.

The city mayor was addressing a press conference held at Nagar Bhaban
conference room to inform the media about steps taken for slaughtering
sacrificial animals at fixed places and quicker disposal of animal wastes.

With Chief Executive Officer of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) Akhter
Hossain Azad in the chair, Panel Mayor Mahmudur Rahman Titu, City Councilors,
officials and employees attended the occasion.

Akhter Hossain Azad delivered welcome speech narrating the experience of
the previous years and plans for slaughtering sacrificial animals at 99 fixed
slaughtering spots under all 33 wards in the city and quicker removal of
animal wastes.

The Mayor said, “We are primarily estimating that over 2,000 sacrificial
animals would be slaughtered in the city where 110 Imams and 110 butchers
will be available at all 99 slaughtering spots in the city during the
upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.”

He put special importance on enhancing awareness among the city dwellers,
authorities and officials concerned for establishing a sound coordination
among them for quicker disposal of sacrificial animal wastes in hygienic way.

The City Mayor sought cooperation of citizens, City Councilors, officials
and employees of RpCC for keeping the city clean during the upcoming Eid-ul-
Azha.
