Bangabandhu struggled to free Bangali nation: Speaker

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2018 (BSS) – Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury today said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman struggled to free the Bangali nation from all sorts of deprivation.

“Bangabandhu inspired the Bangali nation to continue struggle against Pakistani ruler…. Subsequently Bangladesh was liberated under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu,” she told a discussion on the residential complex premises of Parliament Secretariat marking the 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu, an official release said.

Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad ASM Firoz and Senior Secretary of the Parliamentary Secretariat Dr Md Abdur Rob Hawlader, among others, addressed the discussion with President of Parliament Secretariat Residential Complex Welfare Association Masum Billah in the chair.

Dr Sharmin said the main ideology of Bangabandhu was to free the Bangali nation from deprivation, repression as well as break the shackles of subjugation of thousands of years.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed at a time when he had undertaken an arduous task of building a Golden Bangladesh reconstructing the war-ravaged country and unifying the whole nation, she added.

The speaker urged people to follow the ideology of Bangabandhu for building an economically advanced country.
