DHAKA, Nov 13, 2017 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today donated Taka 32 lakh for the treatment of eminent poet and rhymester Akhtar Hussain.
“The prime minister handed over a cheque for the amount to Akhtar Hussain at her Tejgaon office,” premier’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters.
Hussain, the Bangla Academy Award-winning poet, has been suffering from complicated prostate gland cancer.
Receiving the cheque, he expressed gratitude to Sheikh Hasina in an emotion chocked voice. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor were present on the occasion, among others.
Earlier, the prime minister also donated Taka three lakh for his treatment.
Hussain authored a book named “Janaker Mukh” with Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman being its prime character.
