RANGPUR, Aug 18, 2018 (BSS) – Prime Minister’s Special Envoy and Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Alhaj Hussein Muhammad Ershad has said his party will remain in the alliance with Awami League (AL) if BNP takes part in the next general elections.

“If BNP does not participate in the next elections, then JP alone will compete in all 300 parliamentary constituencies,” Ershad said this today while talking to journalists at Rangpur Circuit House after arriving here on a five-day visit.

Ershad said there would also be Jatiya Party in the mini cabinet to be formed before the next general elections. But, it has not been decided yet who would be taken in the cabinet.

“BNP is now a scattered party. There is doubt about their participation in the next general elections as their existence is in danger. Till then, we have made two options and preparations regarding our participation in the elections,” he said.

Regarding the alliance led by Dr Kamal Hossain and Badruddoza Chowdhury, Ershad said, “There are two coalitions in the country. One is Awami League-Jatiya Party grand alliance and BNP’s 20-party alliance. No alliance will exist outside it.”

Introducing himself as the Jatiya Party candidate for Rangpur-3 constituency in the next parliamentary elections, Ershad said, “I started campaigning today from Rangpur-3 constituency from where I have always been elected.”

Jatiya Party’s Co-chairman Golam Mohammad Quader, Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Presidium Member Zia Uddin Ahmed Bablu and Major (Retd) Md Khaled Akhtar, Rangpur City Mayor Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Rangpur city unit General Secretary SM Yasser, Joint General Secretary of district unit Abdur Razzaque and local leaders of the party were present.
