Collective efforts for children act’s effective implementation stressed

RAJSHAHI, Nov 11, 2017 (BSS) – Speakers at a function here today stressed the need for taking collective efforts of all to implement the Children Act- 2013 effectively.

The observation came in a divisional consultation meeting held at Government Community Centre in the city in association with UNICEF, Bangladesh.

Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Office and District and Session Judge Office jointly organized the meeting titled “The Children Act, 2013 and its Effective Implementation”.

Justice of Appellate Division at Bangladesh Supreme Court Iman Ali and High Court Division’s Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif addressed the meeting as the chief and special guests respectively with Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman in the chair.

District and Session Judge Mahbubul Haque, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Sarder Tamizuddin Ahmed, Chief of Child Protection of UNICEF Jean Lieby and its Chief Field Officer Nagibullah Hameem also spoke.

Justice Iman Ali said children’s right must be attached priority for their proper physical and mental development as today’s children will take the nation forward in future.

“There should be a comprehensive children-friendly justice system to protect the right of the children,” he added.

The judges, police, legal practitioners and others concerned should come forward with a positive mind-set for the well-being of the children, he continued.

Taking part in open discussion, the participants put forward a set of recommendations on how to formulate a national work plan and implementation strategy for effective execution of the Children Act, 2013

More than 150 officials comprising judges, administrative and police officials and other concerned from all eight districts under the division joined the meeting.
