RANGPUR, August 12, 2018 (BSS) – Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman remained steadfast in his goal to build a Bangladesh free from discrimination, repression and poverty for the economic freedom of Bangalees.
“Bangabandhu struggled throughout his entire life to establish the rights of the Bangalee nation. He was an uncompromising leader and never bowed down to any injustice,” she said while addressing a programme here.
Pirganj Upazila unit of Bangladesh Awami League organised the programme marking “43rd Death Anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day” at Pirganj Upazila Parishad Auditorium.
A one-minute silence was observed paying tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyrs of August 15, 1975, said a press release.
District Awami league leaders were present at the programme.
