Govt works relentlessly to rural infrastructure development: Shahriar

RAJSHAHI, Aug 11, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar
Alam said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been
working relentlessly for infrastructure development in the rural areas.

He said social change has become visible everywhere in the rural areas by
dint of massive infrastructure development.

He was addressing a public meeting to mark the foundation laying of two
rural roads in Hazir more area under Bagha upazila of the district on Friday
as the chief guest.

The 2.6-kilometer roads, one from Monigram to Balihata and another from
Habashpur to Gorhasthan more, will be constructed with an estimated cost of
around Taka one crore.

Shahriar Alam said the present government has been implementing various
projects to improve living and livelihood condition of people. He urged the
people to keep their confidence on the government so that it can work for
welfare of those in the days ahead.

Mentioning that Awami League only represents the people of Bangladesh, Alam
said the party has brought the nation’s independence through a long struggle
led by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and it will
also bring economic emancipation of the people as well.

The state minister said Bangladesh witnesses real development when Awami
League comes to power. Over the last nine and half years, the present
government has pulled five crore people out of extreme poverty, making the
country a role model of development in abroad.

Bangladesh would be economically self-reliant if Awami League remains in
power, he also added.

Alam called upon the people to vote for Awami League in next national
election to continue the pace of country’s development.

“Bangladesh will be turned into a safe haven for corrupt people, terrorists
and militants if BNP and its cohorts come to power again,” he continued.

Chaired by local Awami League leader Saiful Islam, the meeting was
addressed, among others, by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahin Reja and awami
league leaders Ashraful Islam and Zillur Rahman.
