SYLHET, Nov 7, 2017 (BSS) – The death toll, in a collapse at a stone quarry in Bangla Tila area of Kanaighat upazila in the district this morning, has risen to five while another man remained missing.
The body of Abdul Kader, a student of Kandula Kaumi Madrasha, was found from the debris several hours after the incident, police said.
The other deceased were identified as Nahid and his brother Shakil, sons of Almas Uddin, a resident of Kandula-Konapara village of the upazila, Maruf, son of Abdul Musabbir and Zakir, son of Yunus Ali. All are students of same madrash.
Kanaighat upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Tania Sultana confirmed the incident and said some students of the local madrasha went to the area for collecting rocks.
Police are trying to rescue the missing man, she added.
