AL, other organizations pay rich tribute to Bangamata

DHAKA, Aug 8, 2018 (BSS) – The ruling Awami League, its associate bodies and other likeminded organizations today paid rich tributes to Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Muijb placing wreaths at her grave at the Banani Graveyard here marking her 88th birth anniversary.

Begum Fazilatunnesa, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and mother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, embraced martyrdom along with Bangabandhu and other family members in a brutal predawn attack by some disgruntled army personnel on August 15 in 1975.

The day-long programme began at 8 in the morning with the placing of wreaths on her grave at the Banani Graveyard.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, AL Presidium Members Advocate Sahara Khatun, Dr Abdur Razzak, Muhammad Faruque Khan and Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru, Joint General Secretaries Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Organising Secretaries Ahmad Hossain, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, AKM Anamul Haque Shamim and Barrister Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana and Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, among others, were present on this occasion.

Leaders and workers of different organizations including AL and its other associate bodies also offered Quran Khwani, milad and doa mahfils near the grave seeking divine blessings and eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangamata.

Later, leaders and workers of Awami League North and South City unit, Juba League (JL), Swechchhasebak League (SL), Jatiya Sramik League, Mahila Awami League, Juba Mahila League, Krishak League, Bangamata Parishad and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and many other organizations also placed wreaths on her grave marking her birth anniversary.
