Ctg railway begins selling advance tickets ahead of Eid

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 8, 2018 (BSS)- Bangladesh Railway (BR) authorities here
started selling advanced tickets from today for train services from August 17
to August 21 for carrying home-bound passengers and their subsequent returns
on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

Abul Kalam Azad, manager of Chattogram Railway Station, said the advanced
ticket selling activities from the Chittagong Railway Station began this
morning.

He said the authorities have taken stringent measures this year to check
“ticket black-marketing” and to ensure safety and security of the passengers.

Entire area of Chattogram Railway Station has been vibrating with presence
and movement of people who were on desperate attempts to collect advance
railway tickets at their convenient schedules.

But the gathering of ticket collectors has significantly reduced by noon,
he added. BR authorities here usually operates 10 trains from Chattogram
everyday- five on Dhaka-Chattogram route, two on Chattogram-Sylhet route and
two on Chattogram-Laksham-Chandpur route.

The authorities started issuing advanced tickets for these 10 train
services from August 17 to August 21. The advance tickets are available from
8 am to 4 pm everyday.

The Station Manager said they have sufficient number of tickets and the
authorities have adopted full-length arrangements to check “black marketing
of advance tickets by organised syndicates” and as well as to ensure safety
and security of passengers with strong surveillance of BR security guards,
GRP police and RAB.

Officials said a number of special trains will be operated before Eid day
for carrying Chandpur, Mymensingh and Comilla bound passengers.
