Bangladesh attains all achievements under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership: Hasan

CHATTOGRAM, June 20, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud today said all the achievements of Bangladesh were attained under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her party.

“Everyone is praising the development in the country, but BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is saying the opposite. His speech about the country’s 50 years of achievements seems to be his delirium due to his age,” he said.

The information minister said this while handing over documents among the beneficiaries of Prime Minister’s housing scheme for the homeless families under Asrayan project at Betagi Bahalpur in Rangunia upazila of the district this noon.

Dr Hasan requested the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), an organization of BNP supported doctors, to check the mental health of Mirza Fakhrul.

“We have recently lent $ 200 billion to Sri Lanka. President of the United States, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the German President and Nobel Prize winner Amartya Sen praised the achievements of Bangladesh, but the BNP and its allies cannot praise it,” he added.

He said that the number of poor people in the country has come down to 20 per cent from 41 per cent,

“Bangladesh become food surplus country from food scarcity one and graduated to middle-income country from least developed country,” he added.

Dr Hasan said that the newspapers of the world are writing that Bangladesh, once a borrower, now lends to other countries.

“The BNP and its allies do not see this development. They continue falsifying,” he added.

The minister said that their main issue of BNP’s politics is the health of Begum Khaleda Zia and the punishment of Tareq Rahman.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the process of providing semi-pucca houses with two decimals land in the second phase connecting online to Rangunia from Ganobhavan.

Rangunia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Masudur Rahman and beneficiary Jahanara Begum also spoke on the occasion responding to the Prime Minister.

UNO Masudur Rahman informed the Prime Minister that a total of 175 homeless families in Rangunia got the houses in two phases and some more houses are being constructed under the upazila.

Dr. Hasan said that many people did not have a standard house before, as per the announcement of Bangabandhu’s daughter, now their housing problem has also been solved.

Dr Hasan said that Bangladesh provided 30,000 metric tons of rice assistance after the earthquake in Nepal.

“We have also provided assistance to other countries, including Sri Lanka and Palestine. Once upon a time, old clothes used to come in our country in sacks. We used to buy the bleached old clothes from different markets, Now we are exporting new clothes to developed countries,” he said.

Wishing good health and long life of Begum Zia, Dr Hasan said that she has recovered and returned home from hospital, but people have seen that every day Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and their other leaders talked about her treatment and demanded that she would be taken abroad to recover.

“But with the return of Begum Khaleda Zia, it has been proved that she has received good treatment in the country and returned home,” he added.

He said that Bangladesh surpassed Pakistan in all human development indicators, social indicators and economic indicators and we have overtaken India in terms of per capita income,

There has been minus GDP growth in almost every country in the world during corona pandemic, while there has been positive GDP growth in Bangladesh, he added.

Divisional Commissioner Kamrul Hasan, DIG Anwar Hossain, Deputy Commissioner Mominur Rahman, Superintendent of Police SM Rashidul Haque, District Council Chairman MA Salam, Civil Surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Rangunia Upazila Chairman Swajan Kumar Talukder, Rangunia Municipality Mayor Shahjahan Sikder, North District Krishak League General Secretary Shafiqul Islam, Upazila AL Vice President Abdul Monaf Sikder and its General Secretary Engineer Shamsul Alam Talukder, among others, attended the function.
