First dose of COVID-19 vaccine begins in Rangpur division
RANGPUR, June 19, 2021 (BSS) – The administering of the first dose of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine began today in all eight districts of Rangpur division as elsewhere across the country.
Health officials said a total of 1,09,250 doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine reached all eight district headquarters by Thursday for resumption of administering of the first dose of the jab.
On the first day, a total of 748 students of medical colleges, nursing colleges and institutes, including 348 male and 400 female, were vaccinated with the first dose of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine in the division today.
The district-wise break-up of the first dose recipient 748 citizens stands at 294 in Rangpur, 120 in Panchagarh, 92 in Nilphamari, 10 Lalmonirhat, one in Kurigram, 82 in Thakurgaon, 137 in Dinajpur and 12 in Gaibandha of the division.
Talking to BSS tonight, Civil Surgeon of Rangpur Dr Herambo Kumar Roy said the 294 first dose recipients of today in Rangpur district include students of different public and private medical colleges.
Meanwhile, nine more citizens of Rangpur district alone got the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today, raising the number of the second dose recipients to 3,88,016 in Rangpur division.
Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said the nine citizens, including five male and four female, were inoculated with the second dose of the jab today at Rangpur Medical College vaccination centre.
Due to vaccine scarcity, none was vaccinated today with the second of the jab in seven other districts of the division where the daily infection rate continues rising speedily in recent weeks.
“The total of 3,88,016 second dose recipient citizens, including 2,47,145 male and 1,40,871 female, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” he said.
The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 3,88,016 citizens stands at 89,675 in Rangpur, 31,753 in Panchagarh, 50,273 in Nilphamari, 27,920 Lalmonirhat, 33,769 in Kurigram, 37,409 in Thakurgaon, 78,830 in Dinajpur and 38,387 in Gaibandha.
