3 of a family killed in city, daughter held
DHAKA, June 19, 2021 (BSS) – Three members of a family were found dead at a house Muradpur area under Kadamtali Police Station today, police and hospital sources said.
“Elder daughter Mehjabeen of that family has been detained and shown arrested as she confessed her involvement in the killings of her parents and younger sister over a family feud,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Jamal Uddin Meer of Kadamtali police station told BSS.
The ill-fated deceased were identified as Masud Rana, 50, his wife Mausumi Islam, 40, and their younger daughter Jannatul, 20, he said.
Bachchu Mia, in-charge (inspector) of the DMCH police outpost told this correspondent that two other family members – her (detainee) husband Shafiqul Islam, 40, and his minor daughter Marjan Tabachum Tripti, 4, were rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in an unconscious state.
Shafiqul Islam was sent to Midford hospital while Tripti is undergoing treatment at DMCH, the inspector added.
Kadamtali Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Alam said, “They are now undergoing treatment after washing their stomachs.”
DMCH source said they might have been killed using sleeping pills with tea or coffee or any other liquid substances.
In the preliminary interrogation, police said, Mahjabeen confessed her involvement in the killings of her parents and younger sister .
Police are waiting for the autopsy reports .
