8 die, 112 more test positive for COVID-19 in Kushtia
KUSHTIA, June 19, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 112 more persons were reported positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the district after diagnosing 368 samples at Kushtia 250-bed General Hospital COVID-19 PCR laboratory.
Of the new positive cases, 75 are in Sadar upazila, 16 in Kumarkhali upazila, four in Mirpur upazila, five in Daulatpur upazila, four in Khoksa upazila and eight in Bheramara upazila of the district of the district.
The infection rate is about 32 percent in the district, residential medical officer of Kushtia 250-bed General Hospital of the district Dr. Tapas Kumar Sarker, told BSS this afternoon.
The total number of infected persons in the district stood at 6,175 and the number of recovery cases stood at 4,969, Dr. Tapas Kumar Sarker said.
Meanwhile, eight people have died with coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the district, he added.
A total of 148 persons have so far died of COVID-19 in the district.
Dr. Tapas Kumar Sarker said a total of 113 coronavirus infected persons are now undergoing treatment at Kushtia 250-bed General Hospital, rest of the infected persons are now undergoing treatment at home quarantine under the supervision of doctors from their respective upazila health complexes.
The health expert urged all to follow the health rules strictly and use masks to prevent the spread of the lethal virus.
He urged everyone to be more aware to prevent this lethal infection.
