Covid-19 cases reach 55,845 with 157 new infections in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, June 19, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 157 more people were tested
positive for Covid-19 after testing 980 samples in the last 24 hours in eight
COVID-19 laboratories in the district till Friday evening, climbing the
number of infections to 55,845.
According to the hospital sources, the infection rate is 16.02 percent
during the period. The daily new infection figure shows a slight reduced
compared to the previous day’s figure of 225, but the recovery rate
enhanching continusly in the district in recent weeks,” Dr Sheikh Fazle
Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chatogram told BSS today.
Among the infected patients 91 are from Chattogram city and 66 from
different upazilas of the district. The health expert of Chattogram urged
city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks
due to continuous increasing corona infections here.
With two deaths on Friday the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in
Chattogram steday 656, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.
Among the reported fatalities, 459 were the residents of the port city
and the rest 197 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.
Among the total 55,845 coronavirus infected people, 44,033 are the
residents of the port city and the rest 11,812 are the inhabitants of
different upazilas of the district, he continued.
“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has
reached 47,729 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 147 more
patients on Friday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of
recovery rate stands at 85.47.
A total of 6224 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at
designated hospitals here, he mentioned.
