DHAKA, June 17, 2021 (BSS) – Awami Swechchhasebak League (ASL) today inaugurated tree plantation campaign responding to the call of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Awami League Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Md Delwar Hossain inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan (close to Ramna Kali temple gate).
Addressing on the occasion, he said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman created the Suhrawardy Udyan by planting a coconut sapling on July 16 in 1972.
Development works are underway at the Udyan to present the history and heritage of the nation’s struggle for independence as well as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who had created the Udyan, he said.
Swechchhasebak League President Nirmal Ranjan Guha chaired the function while its General Secretary AKM Afzalur Rahman Babu moderated it. ASL Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Ahmed Ullah Jewel also spoke on the occasion.
