40.16pc Covid-19 infection rate recorded in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 17, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division today recorded 40.16 percent Covid-19 infection rate as 151 new positive cases were reported after diagnosing 376 collected samples at two laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur.

“The infection rate continues rising speedily in all eight districts of Rangpur division deteriorating the overall Covid-19 situation in recent weeks,” said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 31.68 percent on Wednesday, 30.18 percent on Tuesday, 30.77 percent on Monday, 29.02 percent on Sunday, 27.50 percent on Saturday, 23.98 percent on Friday and 26.04 percent on Thursday last in the division.

Among the 151 new patients diagnosed today, 68 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 68 new patients include 27 from Rangpur, 14 from Kurigram, 21 from Lalmonirhat, five from Gaibandha and one from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 8:45 pm.

On the other hand, 83 other newly infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 83 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 73 from Dinajpur, five from Thakurgaon, three from Nilphamari and two from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 21,288 as 151 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 21,288 patients stands at 5,321 in Rangpur, 875 in Panchagarh, 1,656 in Nilphamari, 1,248 in Lalmonirhat, 1,389 in Kurigram, 2,162 in Thakurgaon, 6,791 in Dinajpur and 1,846 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
