DPL: Prime Bank secure top spot after DPL group phase
DHAKA, June 17, 2021 (BSS)—Prime Bank Cricket ended the group phase of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) as table topper after sealing a five-wicket win over Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity by DLS system in their last group match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.
Prime Bank won nine matches out of 11 in the group phase to end it with the highest 18 points.
Opener Rony Talukdar played a vital role in the comprehensive victory hammering 19 ball-39 with seven fours and one six that saw Prime overhaul the target of 74 with ease.
Khelaghar scored 68-5 in 10 overs but Prime Bank’s revised target as per DLS was set 74 in 10 overs. Thanks to Rony, Prime Bank reached the victory mark with five balls remaining. Apart from Rony, skipper Anamul Haque Bijoy made 17 while opener Tamim Iqbal added just 9.
Khelaghar’s Irfan Hossain took 2-16 to briefly scare Prime Bank as they were chasing a paltry target.
Earlier opener Shahriar Komol made highest 31 in the innings of Khelaghar who remained at ninth position with eight points.
