Stocks maintain gaining streak

DHAKA, June 17, 2021 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 1.01 points or 0.02 per cent to settle at 6,052.75. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 13.80 points to finish at 2,197.06 and 2.27 points closing at 1,290.93.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 18471.64 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 21096.87 million.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 372 issues traded, 182 closed green, 156 in the red and 34 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by NFML, Pioneer Insurance, Orion Pharma and National Polymer.

Safco Spinning was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.69 percent while Index Agro was the worst loser, losing 9.05 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 40.39 points to settle at 17,570.93 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 25.14 points to close at 10,576.20.

Of the issues traded, 83 advanced, 191 declined and 34 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 2.50 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 104.96 crore.
