JAMALPUR, June 17, 2021 (BSS) – Social Service Department has registered 30,717 more people for widow allowance under the social safety network in the district this year.
With the new number of women, who came under the social safety net network, the number of beneficiaries raised 58,834 in the district.
According to the Social Service Department office with a view to help the poor people in the covid-19 pandemic this year 30,717 additional people got widow allowance in the district.
The office said with the rising number of widow allowance, 15,006 women came under the social safety net in Jamalpur Sadar upazila, 6,669 women in Madarganj upazila, 8,422 women in Melandah, 8,258 women in Islampur, 8,253 women in Sarishabari, 6,663 women in Dewanganj and 5563 women in Bakshiganj upazila.
Deputy director of Social Service Department Raju Ahmed said each of the beneficiaries got Taka 500 per month as widow allowance.
