3,87,969 get second dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 16, 2021 (BSS) – The number of citizens who got the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine reached 3,87,969 in Rangpur division where 29 more people were inoculated today.

Health officials said the 29 citizens, including 24 male and five female, all hailing from Rangpur district alone, were inoculated with the second dose of the jab today.

Due to vaccine scarcity, none was vaccinated today with the second of the jab in seven other districts of the division as the daily infection rate is rising speedily across the division in recent weeks.

“The total of 3,87,969 second dose recipient citizens, including 2,47,104 male and 1,40,865 female, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 3,87,969 citizens stands at 89,628 in Rangpur, 31,753 in Panchagarh, 50,273 in Nilphamari, 27,920 Lalmonirhat, 33,769 in Kurigram, 37,359 in Thakurgaon, 78,830 in Dinajpur and 38,387 in Gaibandha.

“Meanwhile, none was vaccinated with the first dose of the jab since April 26 last in Rangpur division where the number of first dose recipient citizens remained steady at 5,96,943 people,” Dr Islam added.
