Strict restrictions extended till June 23 in C’nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, June 16, 2021 (BSS) – The strict restrictions on public movement have been extended for one more week in the district to curb the spread of Covid-19 transmission.

Deputy Commissioner Monjurul Hafij announced it at a press briefing held at his conference room this evening mentioning that the transmission of COVID-19 has started reducing in the district.

The restrictions will remain in force from June 16 midnight to till June 23 midnight, he said.

After alarming increase of corona infection in the district, lockdown was imposed here from May 25 and it was increased twice although it was relaxed from June 8.

The local administration took the decision considering the overall situation of Covid-19, mango growers’ and traders’ interest and development works of the district.

According to the restrictions, all shops, shopping malls will remain open from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm but the weekly haat-bazaars will remain closed.

Inter-district transport services will also remain suspended but only vehicles carrying mangoes, foods, medicines and other emergency goods will be allowed to move.

However, public transports will be allowed to ply inside the district with the half of the capacity following health guidelines.

All kinds of public gatherings including political, social, and religious programmes will remain suspended during this period.

Juma prayers can be offered at mosques with 20 devotees maintaining health rules.

Superintendent of Police AHM Abdur Rokib, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahid Nazrul Chowdhury and other officials were present at the meeting.
