Bangladesh provides Taka 65cr to Sudan

DHAKA, June 16, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh has provided 5.32 million SDR or around Taka 65 crore to Sudan as debt relief for further strengthening the efforts of Sudan in poverty alleviation.

Bangladesh provided the amount yesterday in response to the call from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to relief debt-burden of OIC enlisted poor country Sudan, which is also a friendly country of Bangladesh, said a Finance Ministry press release today.

The release said Bangladesh also provided 0.70 million SDR or more than Taka 8 crore to Somalia last year for poverty alleviation as part of the initiative from IMF.
