Five detained in attempted rape case filed by an actress

DAHKA, June 14, 2021 (BSS) – Five people, including a real estate businessman and former president of Uttara Club Limited Nasir U Mahmood, were arrested today in connection with an attempted rape and murder case filed by film actress Pori Moni with Savar Police Station here.

The Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch (south) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Moshiur Rahman, told BSS that a team of detectives this noon carried out a raid at a house in Uttara Sector-1 and made the arrest in a case filed the case this morning.

Four other arrestees are: Tuhin Siddique Omi, 33, Lipi Akter, 18, Sumi Akter, 19, and Nazma Ameen Snigdha,24.

Police also recovered local and foreign alcohol and 1,000 pieces of yaba during the raid.

Earlier, actress Pori Moni has brought allegation of attempted rape and murder against some six people including, businessman and former president of Uttara Club Ltd Nasir U Mahmood and five others, Officer-in Charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam of Savar police station told journalists.

Earlier in the day, she brought the allegations in a Facebook post without naming the suspect.

Later, this film artist also held a media briefing at her Gulshan residence late on Sunday, with naming the businessman as her prime attacker.

The OC said a written complaint was filed with the Rupnagar police station at Mirpur in the capital first.

But, he said, as he incident occurred in Savar area, the complaint was transferred to Savar police station and lodged as a case here.

Pori Moni alleged that Nasir, now the entertainment and cultural affairs secretary of the Uttara Club, and another businessman named Omi wanted to rape and kill her.

The detectives hinted that another case will be filed against the detainees under Narcotics Control Act as drugs and alcohol were recovered during the raid.
