99 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 13, 2021 (BSS) – Ninety-nine more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive at two laboratories today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising hastily during the last few days.

“The 99 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 26.33 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 27.50 percent on Saturday, 23.98 percent on Friday, 26.04 percent on Thursday, 31.25 percent on Wednesday, 32.03 percent on Tuesday and 28.79 percent on Monday last in the division.

Among the 99 new patients diagnosed today, 37 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 37 new patients include 17 from Rangpur, 10 from Kurigram, eight from Lalmonirhat and two from Gaibandha Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 8:35 pm.

On the other hand, 62 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 62 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 55 from Dinajpur, four from Thakurgaon and three from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 20,339 as 99 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 20,339 patients currently stands at 5,244 in Rangpur, 859 in Panchagarh, 1,615 in Nilphamari, 1,187 in Lalmonirhat, 1,327 in Kurigram, 1,968 in Thakurgaon, 6,325 in Dinajpur and 1,813 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
