Shakib apologizes for his on field misdemeanor

DHAKA, June 11, 2021 (BSS)—Ace allrounder Shakib Al Hasan regretted for the misdemeanor he did on the field during the high voltage clash against Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

After seeing his leg-before wicket appeal against Abahani skipper Mushfiqur Rahim turned down by the umpire, Shakib failed to control his temper and vented his anger by kicking up the stumps.

Later when the rain arrived to stop the game, he threw down the wickets before leaving the ground. The act drew a massive criticism. Officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said they would take action following the umpire’s report on the issue.

However Shakib took his social media outlet to seek apology for the incident and vowed not to repeat this kind of incident.

“Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens unfortunately,” he wrote in his official facebook page.

“I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in the future. Thanks and love you all.”

Mohammedan won the game by 31 runs through DLS system.
