77 more reported Covid-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 10, 2021 (BSS) – Seventy-seven more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising quickly during the last few days.

“The 77 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 20.48 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 31.25 percent on Wednesday, 32.03 percent on Tuesday, 28.79 percent on Monday, 23.98 percent on Sunday and 23.66 percent on Saturday against 15.57 percent on Friday and 17.74 percent on Thursday last in the division.

Among the 77 new patients diagnosed today, 27 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 27 new patients include 13 from Rangpur, six from Kurigram, three from Gaibandha, two from Nilphamari and one each Nilphamari, Thakurgaon and Dinajpur districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.

On the other hand, 50 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 50 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 44 from Dinajpur and three each from Panchagarh and Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 19,930 as 77 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

The district-wise break up of 19,930 patients stands at 5,188 in Rangpur, 851 in Panchagarh, 1,609 in Nilphamari, 1,154 in Lalmonirhat, 1,288 in Kurigram, 1,852 in Thakurgaon, 6,189 in Dinajpur and 1,802 in Gaibandha of the division.
