Cultural activities play key role in national life: Farhad
DHAKA, June 10, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain today underscored the need for taking care of cultural workers saying cultural activities play an important role in national life.
“We all remain alert that cultural workers don’t face any sufferings,” he told a cheque distribution ceremony for temporarily jobless cultural workers in Meherpur district due to Covid-19 pandemic induced restrictions.
The state minister virtually joined the function, arranged by Meherpur district administration, which also included distribution of prizes among best teachers and students under Temple-Based Child and Mass Literacy Programme.
Farhad said during the Covid-19 crisis, many cultural workers became jobless and faced financial losses.
The government always remains alert so that the people face any sufferings, he said adding that the government is continuing providing financial aids to cultural workers.
The state minister said the government is working for building a non-communal society having religious values.
He hoped temple-based child and mass literacy programme will play a vital role to this end.
Meherpur Deputy Commissioner Dr Mohammad Monsur Alam Khan chaired the function while Religious Affairs Ministry Additional Secretary Ranjit Kumar Das and Meherpur Police Super SM Murad Ali addressed it as special guests.
Ninety cultural workers received cheques of Taka 5000 each and total Taka 4,50,000 while prizes were given among five best teachers and 10 best students in the district under the programme.
