DHAKA, June 9, 2021 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has postponed the elections of four Union Parishads (UP) of the country.
The commission has also decided to hold the elections of the four union parishads on July 14.
The four union parishad are Haridhali in Paikgachha upazila of Khulna, Khaulia in Morealganj upazila and Kochua in Kochua upazila of Bagerhat and Bhatgaon in Chhatak upazila in Sunamganj district.
Mohammad Atiyar Rahman, deputy secretary of the EC’s election management branch, said the election has been postponed due to the death of a legitimate candidate.
In this case, all the activities for the post of chairman will start anew. However, the candidates who were valid for the general and reserved member posts will remain the same.
