64 more reported Covid-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 6, 2021 (BSS)–Sixty-four more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

“The 64 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 17.02 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 64 new patients diagnosed today, 32 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 32 new patients include 22 from Rangpur, six from Lalmonirhat, two from Kurigram and one each from Nilphamari and Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:10 pm.

On the other hand, 32 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 32 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 31 from Dinajpur and one from Thakurgaon districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 19,448 as 64 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 19,448 patients currently stands at 5,099 in Rangpur, 844 in Panchagarh, 1,591 in Nilphamari, 1,114 in Lalmonirhat, 1,257 in Kurigram, 1,743 in Thakurgaon, 6,016 in Dinajpur and 1,781 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
