Stocks witness flat despite higher transactions

DHAKA, June 6, 2021 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed a downward trend of major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges despite higher transactions.

The daily trade value increased to Taka 26,693.89 million from Thursday’s Taka 21,822.51 million.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 15.14 points down at 6,038.29. But the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also closed the day with 18.96 points down at 2,222.55 and 6.14 points down at 1,299.31.

At DSE, out of the day’s 366 securities, prices of 145 securities closed higher against 201 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Fortune, RSRM Steel, Runner Auto, Beximco and SP Ceramics. The major losing issues were NCC Bank, Phenix Insurance, Reliance Insurance, SouthEast Bank and Asia Pacific.

Beximco topped the turnover list followed by Ifad Autos, Fortune, Rupali Insurance and Robi.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with a downward trend with its major CASPI 36.46 points down at 17,507.03.

At CSE, 292 issues were traded. Of those, 130 closed higher and 143 closed lower when 3.98 crore shares worth Taka 159.85 crore changed hands.
