288 more people test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 5, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 288 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 afresh in all eight districts of the division on Friday, climbing the number of infections to 37,322.

The daily new infection figure shows a declining trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 372, said the health department sources.

“Among the infected people, 31,840 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 65 new recoveries found during that time,” said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.

He added that a total of 3,984 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 8,705 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 7,342 have by now been released.

On the other hand, 21 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 15 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

The number of deaths from the disease stands at 592, including 318 in Bogura and 93 in Rajshahi with 59 in its city, while 11 more fatalities reported afresh on Friday, Dr Talukder added.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 133 were detected in Rajshahi, including 119 in its city, followed by 107 in Chapainawabganj, 16 in Bogura, 14 in Pabna, eight in Joypurhat, four in Natore and Sirajganj each and two in Naogaon districts.

With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 9,561 in Rajshahi, including 7,742 in its city, 2,380 in Chapainawabganj, 2,383 in Naogaon, 1,842 in Natore, 1,877 in Joypurhat, 12,359 in Bogura, 3,744 in Sirajganj and 3,196 in Pabna.

A total of 73,718 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 71,678 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,08,830 people received second doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the city and eight districts of Rajshahi division since the nationwide second dose vaccination began on April 8.

Of them, 830 people including 319 female took the second dose of jab in two districts of the division on Thursday, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, told BSS.

He said 20 including 11 female in Chapainawabganj and 810 people including 308 female in Bogura received the vaccines on the day.
