Booters focus on India match

DHAKA, June 4, 2021 (BSS)-After an impressive performance against Afghanistan, the Bangladesh team are fully motivated and now they are fully focusing on India match to get points to play directly in the Asian Cup.

“We are now totally focusing on the match against India … the match against India is very important for us because we’ll have to find out the points in this match for Asian Cup…..I think points of India match will play a vital if we want to play directly in the Asian Cup,” Topu said through a video message today.

“We all are motivated now after the Afghanistan match and one kind of confidence has been built up from the this match and we hope that this confidence will play an important role for the next match against India,” he added.

Topu, who rescued Bangladesh from total embarrassment in the Bangladesh’s first match against Afghanistan scoring the only goal, said overall they have tried their best in the Afghanistan match and finally got the reap in the last moment of the match and all gave their best from their respective position.

Teamwork is important matter which I always say and I think we have very good teamwork which will be effective for the next two matches, he said.

Head coach Jamie Day said boys played fantastic ninety minutes with great attitude and confidence against Afghanistan. Boys are now focusing their next match against India and the head coach is considering the match against India will be a very tough one.

The English born Bangladesh head coach also expressed his disappointment because the team would miss the service of Sohel Rana in the next two matches for his injury problem.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh team suffered a big jolt before the India match as Jamie Day will miss the service of national football team midfielder Sohail Rana who suffered left hand injury during the match against Afghanistan. An X-ray and MRI found a little bit fracture of his hand. So Sohel Rana has been ruled out from the next two matches of the World Cup qualifiers.

The Bangladesh national football team skipped their training session today. Only the best eleven players, who played in the first match against Afghanistan, completed half hour swimming session from 1pm to 1.30 pm (BST) under the supervision of head coach Jamie Day. The players who are out of best eleven, are scheduled to have their gym session from 6 pm to 7 pm (BST).

The Bangladesh team will complete their gym session tomorrow from 1 pm to 2 pm (BST) while the booters will have their training at Qatar University ground from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm (BST).
