59 more reported Covid-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 4, 2021 (BSS) – Fifty-nine more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

“The new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 15.69 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the new patients, 32 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) Covid-19 laboratory.

“Among the 32 new patients, 13 from Rangpur, six from Lalmonirhat, seven from Kurigram, four from Gaibandha and one each from Nilphamari and Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:40 pm.

On the other hand, 27 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) Covid-19 laboratory in Dinajpur today.

“Of the 27 newly infected patients, 23 from Dinajpur and two each from Thakurgaon and Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Prof Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told tonight.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients reached 19,291 as 64 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break-up of total 19,291 patients currently stands at 5,061 in Rangpur, 844 in Panchagarh, 1,589 in Nilphamari, 1,102 in Lalmonirhat, 1,246 in Kurigram, 1,726 in Thakurgaon, 5,948 in Dinajpur and 1,771 in Gaibandha,” he added.
