CHATTOGRAM, June 3, 2021 (BSS)- Nearly 13 lakh babies aged 6-59 months will be administered vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules from June 5 to June 19 to prevent all types of diseases including measles, diarrhea and night blindness.
The campaign will begin from 8am and continue uninterruptedly till 4 pm on National Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign-21 in the city and district without government holidays.
It was disclosed at separate press conferences by Civil Surgeon Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi and Chief Medical officer of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Dr. Selim Akhter Chowdhury held at their respective offices today.
Civil surgeon office to be fed vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules to seven lakh 87 thousand 784 while over five lakh 10 thousand 31 babies to be fed vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules by CCC.
Over 500 supervisors including Commissioners of 41 wards in CCC and 859 supervisors in the 14 upazilas of the district will supervise the ‘A’ Plus campaign.
A total of 4,861 temporary vaccination centers will be set up by the Civil Surgeon office. CCC will set up 1,248 temporary centers in 41 wards to carry out the programme.
Over 20,000 volunteers and health workers including 4,848 by CCC would be engaged in giving vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules to the children aged from 6 months to 5 years.
