ACC gets TK 159 crore in proposed budget
SANGSAD BHABAN, June 3, 2021 (BSS) – With a view to preventing corruption in the
line with the government’s zero tolerance policy against graft, TK 159 crore has
been proposed for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the fiscal year (FY)
2021-2022, which is TK nine crore higher than that of FY 2020-2021.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal came up with the proposal while unveiling the
national budget for the FY 2021-22 in Parliament today.
The proposed budget for the ACC was TK 150 crore in FY 2020-2021, while the
revised budget was Taka 121 crore.
“The government has been providing adequate legal and financial assistance to the
Anti-Corruption Commission, based on its demand and requirement, to carry out the
anti-corruption and prevention activities in a transparent, impartial and
effective manner, the finance minister said in his budget speech.
To further strengthen the national anti-graft body , there are plans to fully
automate its overall activities, he said.
Kamal said a web-based software will be developed for proper monitoring of
investigation and case management work aiming to enhance the ACC’s institutional
capacity.
The government will continue to take strict measures in curbing corruption, he
added.
