Tk 4,191 crore proposed for development of women, children

DHAKA, June 3, 2021, (BSS)–The government has proposed allocating Taka 4,191 crore for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs in the proposed budget for fiscal year (FY) 2021-22 for the development of women and children.

“I am proposing an allocation of TK 4,191 crore for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs in the next fiscal year, which is Tk 3,860 crore in FY 2020-2021,” said Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal while placing the national budget for fiscal year (FY) 2021-22 today in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The Finance Minister in his speech said the government is committed to empower women in the political, economic and social spheres.

“We are also committed to the elimination of gender inequality and the establishment of children’s rights through the implementation of all plans, implementation of various activities in line with the National Women’s Development Policy 2011 and integrating them into the mainstream of overall development,” he added.

He hoped that the ongoing pace of development for women and children would continue in future through implementation of all the activities taken for them and ensuring the prevention of violence against women, workplace safety for women and their overall socio-economic development.
