Govt targets to contain inflation at 5.3% in FY22
DHAKA, June 3, 2021 (BSS) – The government has set a target to contain the inflation within 5.3 percent in the next fiscal year (2021-2022).
“It is expected that the inflation rate will be 5.3 percent during the period,” said Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal while placing the national budget for FY22 in Jatiya Sangsad today.
The Finance Minister also said in the medium-term, strong domestic demand will be the main source of growth. “Our focus will be on increasing consumption and investment to stimulate domestic demand and enhancing exports to augment external demand,”
He said acceleration of the GDP growth and creation of employment by increasing the supply side growth of the industrial sector are among the main targets. “We hope that these targets will be achieved through the rapid implementation of the works to establish Economic Zones.” He added.
