69 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 1, 2021 (BSS) – Sixty-nine more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

“The 69 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 18.35 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 69 new patients diagnosed today, 34 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 34 new patients include 22 from Rangpur, eight from Kurigram and four from Lalmonirhat districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.

On the other hand, 35 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 35 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 32 from and two from Nilphamari and one from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients reached 19,076 as 69 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 19,076 patients currently stands at 5,018 in Rangpur, 842 in Panchagarh, 1,584 in Nilphamari, 1,090 in Lalmonirhat, 1,229 in Kurigram, 1,687 in Thakurgaon, 5,860 in Dinajpur and 1,766 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
