DHAKA, May 30, 2021 (BSS) – Two largest tech giants- Google and Amazon- have obtained their Business Identification Number (BIN) from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for operating business in Bangladesh.

For the first time ever, two non-residential companies have acquired BIN from the NBR last week, and they will now pay a 15% VAT on revenue derived from Bangladesh, and submit returns on the total turnover at the end of each year.

NBR’s VAT Online project director Kazi Mostafizur Rahman said, BIN was given to these two companies last week and the copies of registration documents were handed over to PricewaterhouseCoopers-which serve as consultants for these two companies in Bangladesh.

He hoped that, like Google and Amazon, other organizations including Facebook and YouTube will also register here as well.

He also said, these companies will be able to submit returns by hiring two local consultants or agents.

Besides, tax money can also be deposited through Bangladeshi banks located in abroad or local agents.
