116 more test positive for Covid-19 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, May 29, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 116 more people were diagnosed with COVID-19 positive in Chattogram district in the last 24 hours.

Health officials said the number of COVID-19 cases speedily raised to 53,169 as 116 more persons were reported Covid-19 positive after testing 912 samples with the daily infection rate of 12.72 percent on Friday in the district.

“The infection rate is showing a quick rising trend again and recovery rate is declining continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Focal Person of COVID-19 Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

The health expert of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks.

Among the newly detected patients, 69 are from Chattogram city and 47 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

With the one death on Friday, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram reached 609, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, said.

Among the reported fatalities, 439 were the residents of the port city and the rest 170 were from different upazilas of the district.

Civil surgeon told BSS that among the total infected persons, 42,486 are the residents of the port city and the rest 10773 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 39,715 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 167 more patients on Friday,” Dr Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 74.93.

A total of 5707 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
