34 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 29, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty-four more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

“The 34 new cases were reported after diagnosing 282 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division  at the infection rate of 12.06 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Among the 34 new patients diagnosed today, 10 were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 10 new patients include seven from Rangpur, two from Lalmonirhat and one from Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7 pm.

On the other hand, 24 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“All of the 24 newly infected Covid-19 patients are hailing from different places of Dinajpur district alone,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients reached 18,878 as 34 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 18,878 patients currently stands at 4,971 in Rangpur, 838 in Panchagarh, 1,573 in Nilphamari, 1,078 in Lalmonirhat, 1,213 in Kurigram, 1,669 in Thakurgaon, 5,774 in Dinajpur and 1,762 in Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
