Nazrul poet of Bengali’s eternal spirit, conscience: Quader

DHAKA, May 24, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said Kazi Nazrul Islam is a poet of Bengali spirit and conscience.

“Nazrul is a poet of love, rebellion and equity in Bengali literature. His time-winning writings fostered the mantra against injustice and wrongdoing,” he said in a statement on the eve of the 122nd birth anniversary of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam to be celebrated tomorrow.

Quader said Nazrul promoted humanity against superstition, religious dogmatism and communalism through his literary works .

The national poet awakened Bengali nationalism by penning against repression, torture and discrimination of the British rulers, he said.

The AL general secretary urged the leader and workers, associate and like-minded bodies and the people to celebrate the birth anniversary of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam with maintaining health safety guidelines.

Marking the anniversary, AL will pay homage to the national poet by placing wreaths at his grave on the premises of the Dhaka University Central Mosque at 9am tomorrow.
